6th Annual Conference of Russian-American Scientific Association RASA-USA

On November 7 - 8, 2015 the scientists of a number of Russian universities and research institutes participated in 6th Annual Conference of the Russian-American Scientific Association RASA-USA held on the premises of Engineering Faculty of George Washington University in the US capital.

Among the Conference participants there was D. V. Livanov, the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation; S. I. Kislyak, the Russian Ambassador in the USA; specialists of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, representatives of National Scientific Foundation of the USA; National Institutes of Health and Standards and technologies of the USA; the Russian Development Institutes, leading Russian and American universities, research and investment funds and companies of Russia and the USA, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technologies, JSC Russian Venture Company, etc.

The participants were welcomed by Dmitry Livanov, the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and Lyudmila Ogorodova, the Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, who was also the moderator of one of the Conference sessions.

Considering the information availability to be "a condition of effective work of each scientist" the Minister reported on the Ministry activities in this field, such as setting up electronic libraries, systems for search of partners, information services of Russian scientists and organizations’ monitoring, and an electronic platform of vacancies for young scientists’ employment.

The Conference program included the plenary session and two panel discussions devoted to the new initiatives on cooperation with Russian-speaking scientific diaspora, and prospects of further cooperation development of Russian universities with foreign partners and experts in research, education and innovation.

For the first time, within the official program the formation of the Youth Branch of the Association was discussed. The branch formation proposals were submitted by Oleg Mansurov, the graduate student of NITU "MISIS"; Temir Alimov, a graduate student from Kazakhstan, represented KAZALYANS and shared the experience of the Youth Association activities abroad.
