The Institute of International Education of RTU MIREA, in its work with foreign students, pays special attention to educational activities, including excursions of various formats.
On April 13, lecturers and instructors of the Department of Russian (as a foreign language) of the Institute of International Education went on an educational tour with foreign students along the Moscow metro. The international group included students from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Iraq, Iran, Colombia, Cuba, Mongolia, Serbia, Chad and other countries.
At the beginning of the tour, each student received a booklet with the tour route. The students visited 8 most beautiful metro stations: the tour started with the very first and oldest stations – Komsomolskaya, Novoslobodskaya and Arbatskaya, and ended at one of the newest ones – Troparevo station decorated in modern style.
The story of the Moscow metro stations, related signs and traditions in two languages in a fascinating manner was told by Professor Sergeeva O.E of the Department of Russian (as a foreign language) of the Institute of International Education, and Associate Professor F.S. Makoeva answered the questions the students had during the tour.
During the excursion, foreign students performed various “rituals” to raise their mood and add positive emotions: at the station “Revolution Square”, the guys rubbed the dog’s nose with pleasure – to be successful at exams; baby's leg - to enjoy good health; rubbed the parsley stem - for money and prosperity. On Vorobyovy Gory we admired the views of the Moscow River, the Luzhniki stadium, the building of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the new Gymnastics Palace of Irina Viner-Usmanova.
A two-hour excursion ended at the modern Troparevo station. The tour allowed foreign students not only to get acquainted with the most beautiful stations of the Moscow metro, but also to practice their Russian language, learn more about the Russian culture and history.
