24.11.2025

From November 20 to 22, the Russian-Chinese Education Festival was held, organized by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the federal agency Interobrazovanie. The festival was hosted by MISIS, a national research technological university, bringing together rectors and representatives of Chinese and Russian universities, along with officials from the Russian Ministry of Education and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Moscow.

The festival aims to strengthen humanitarian cooperation in education, science, and culture, to enhance trust, and to exchange best practices between Russia and China, aligning with both countries’ national priorities. At the opening, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Nikolayevich Falkov called the festival a prelude to the upcoming Cross Years of Education to be held in 2026 and 2027 in Russia and China at their leaders’ initiative.

In his welcoming address, the minister emphasized that strong inter-university ties and student exchanges have always played a key role in Russia-China relations, and the festival indicated a strong, multifaceted partnership and strategic cooperation.

The working program began with a plenary session titled “Strategic Partnership of Russia and China: Expanding Academic Cooperation,” moderated by Deputy Minister Konstantin Ilyich Mogilevsky.

RTU MIREA was represented by Aleksandra Yevgenyevna Sizemina, Head of International Relations, and Olga Semyonovna Sinelshchikova, Head of the International Activities Support Department.

During the first two days, Russian and Chinese colleagues discussed key cooperation issues from the unique experience of the Joint University of Moscow State University and Beijing Polytechnic Institute in Shenzhen to the development of partnerships in specific areas of science and education, including innovative language training models. Special attention was given to the role of university associations and academic exchanges in strengthening strategic partnership.

Panel sessions covered “Integration of Science and Education — Effective Interaction Models between Russian and Chinese Organizations” and “Digital Transformation of Science and Education in Russia and China,” as well as roundtables on inter-university collaboration, promotion of the Russian and Chinese languages among youth, and digitalization of Chinese language studies.

The festival program also included a lecture titled “Traditional Arts and Crafts of Russia and China: Dialogue of National Cultures — Dialogue of States” and engaging workshops on calligraphy, traditional arts and crafts, tea ceremonies, and the game of Mahjong.

Strengthening ties with the People’s Republic of China remains a priority for RTU MIREA’s international activities. The university holds cooperation agreements and implements joint projects with multiple Chinese universities and organizations, including agreements on joint educational programs and academic mobility. The Association of Technical Universities of Russia and China (ATURС) also supports collaboration with leading Chinese universities. Currently, two RTU MIREA student groups are preparing to travel to China to participate in a Winter School and a semester exchange program at Beijing Polytechnic Institute.
