The Institute of International Education of RTU MIREA held a number of events dedicated to the International Day of Peace

The teaching staff of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, together with the lecturers and trainers of the Pre-university Training Department for Foreign Citizens of the Institute of International Education of RTU MIREA, organized and conducted a series of discussions on the topic International Day of Peace: getting to know the history of the holiday and its meaning.

The events attended by foreign citizens from Afghanistan, Angola, Vietnam, Haiti, Kyrgyzstan, Cote d’Ivoire, Colombia, Cuba, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Chad, Ecuador were held both in person and online.

Also, during the week, foreign students, together with Russian students, conducted a correspondence quest around the historical places of Moscow and got  many sights of the capital: from Prospekt Mira and the metro station of the same name to the Friendship of Peoples fountain at VDNKh – the Exhibition of People’s Achievements. The students viewed reproductions of paintings by Russian artists, watched videos of sculptures dedicated to world peace.

Such events held among foreign students contribute to the growing interest in public activities for the sake of peace, elimination of interethnic conflicts, intercultural dialogue based on tolerance and respect for human rights.
