21.12.2020

On December 10-11, MIREA – Russian Technological University hosted in the online format on the ZOOM platform the fifth Optical technologies, materials and systems Russian scientific and technical conference with international participation (Optotech-2020).

Opportunities provided by the online mode of the conference allowed a larger number of foreign guests to take part in the event than at similar conferences in previous years. In particular, the representatives of India, Taiwan, South Korea, the Republic of Belarus, Armenia addressed the conference.

S.A. Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA, welcomed the participants of the plenary session and emphasized the importance of the event calling it an annual platform for the exchange of the latest innovative developments and the strengthening of international research and technical cooperation in optical technologies, materials and systems.

The first presentation on the development challenges facing the global optronics was by Deepak Loomba, an Indian business representative. In his expert assessments, Mr. Loomba drew the attention of the audience to the global trends and problems of the development in this industry, mapped out the areas for promising scientific research.

The guests of the Conference made informative presentations on world-class advanced technologies, among them: Dr.Lu Hung Tu, Ph.D, President of the Nanoplus Tech company (Taiwan) who spoke about the latest technologies in environmental protection.

A.P. Shkadarevich, Director of STC “LEMT” BelOMO (Republic of Belarus), academician of the Belarus NAS, demonstrated the latest developments in optoelectronic security devices that are in high demand in many countries of the world.

Dr. Seak-Joon Lee, Ph.D, representative of the high-tech business of South Korea, President of Innovated Technology Inc., spoke about the high-performance laser welding technology for mass-scale production of multi-format batteries.

Representatives of RTU MIREA, Shvabe holding, specialists from foreign and Russian companies shared the results of their research evoking genuine interest among the audience of the conference. The participants introduced enterprises conducting research in optical and magneto-optical properties of nanostructures, the development of high-performance laser technologies for processing materials, the creation of the most up-to-date samples of laser equipment and digital twins for fiber-optic communication networks.

The high level of organization and the information content of the plenary session at the Optotech-2020 Conference was noted by all the online participants in the event.

The conference further proceeded in sections:

  • Technologies for precision processing of optical materials
  • Fiber optic and optoelectronic systems and technologies
  • Promising innovative materials and technologies
  • Optical effects and modern electronics

Masters and post-graduate students of RTU MIREA, representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Bauman Moscow State Technological University, Moscow Aviation Institute, JSC NPP Geofizika-Kosmos, JSC Moscow Plant Sapphire, LLC Progress, LLC Fibertrade, LLC Practical Security Systems, LLC T8, NIIR Federal State Unitary Enterprise also participated in the work of the sections.

Informational support of the conference was provided by scientific and technical journals: Russian Technological Journal, Pribory, RHYTHM of Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Information Systems, Russian Engineer, Basis, Inventor and Rationalizer.

In total, over 60 presentations were heard at the fifth Russian Optical technologies, materials and systems scientific and technical conference with international participation (Optotech-2020). The event was held in a distance format, for two days, and attended by over 150 online participants. As a result of the conference, a collection of presentations will be published and included into the RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index).
