Work continues on the International Youth Cooperation Strategy of the CIS Member States

On March 5, 2019, a meeting of the working group for the preparation of the Draft Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the years 2021-2030 was held in Minsk. Representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation and the staff of the CIS Executive Committee attended the meeting. The Russian Federation was represented by R.A. Voitekhovsky, the assistant of the Department of State Policy in Higher Education and Youth Policy of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, G.V. Petushkova, Director of the Institute of Youth Policy and International Relations of the RTU MIREA, and D.A. Bunkin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Youth Policy and International Relations.

The June 2017 meeting of the Council on Youth Affairs of the CIS member states took a decision to develop the Draft Strategy for 2021-2030.

In 2018, the document was actively drafted, a number of meetings were held to discuss the Draft Strategy, including the four meetings hosted by MIREA, the Russian Technological University, the Federal State budgetary educational institution of higher education (the base organization of the CIS member states for working with young people) in cooperation with the CIS Executive Committee.

Pursuant to the draft, the Strategy is a set of agreed approaches of the CIS member states to the main goals, objectives, principles, directions, forms and mechanisms for the development of youth cooperation in the CIS. The strategy is designed to consolidate the efforts of the CIS interdepartmental cooperation, the state authorities of the CIS member states, public youth and other organizations involved in the implementation of the state youth policy, and to create favorable conditions for international youth cooperation.

Items relating to the monitoring of the Strategy implementation, the results of the international youth cooperation of the CIS member states in the period up to 2020, the review of the youth policy implementation and of the status of young people in the CIS member states were added to the document structure. Major changes relate to the content of the document. The documents on the basis of which the Strategy was developed were also attached to the text of the Strategy. At the meeting in Minsk, the document was amended with the account of the proposals made. The Draft Strategy is to be further reviewed at the meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States in May this year.
