Young researchers of Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies became laureates of prestigious competitions held under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation

Elena Vasilievna Shmendel, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Biologically Active Compounds, Medical and Organic Chemistry named after N.A. Preobrazhensky, won the scholarship from the President of the Russian Federation in the Medical technologies, primarily diagnostic equipment, and medicines category. Elena Vasilievna Shmendel has been working on the creation of cationic liposomes for the delivery of nucleic acids into the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells.

In the 2021-2022 nomination, 3223 applications were filed, and 587 scholarships were received, that is, the competitive rate was 5.5 people per scholarship.

Vitaly Ivanovich Gomzyak, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Macromolecular Compounds named after S.S. Medvedev is the holder of the President of the Russian Federation grant in chemical sciences. Vitaly Ivanovich is working on the heterophase polymerization of vinyl monomers, as well as lactones in the presence of new types of biodegradable surfactants.

The winners in the competition for the President of the Russian Federation grants issued for the state support of young Russian scientists in 2021-2022, are 400 candidates of sciences and 60 doctors of sciences (in total 1463 applications were filed), in chemical sciences 71 winners were announced.
