13.11.2023

An IT laboratory, opened jointly with the Astra Group, the University’s industrial partner, was launched at the Altair Children's Technopark of RTU MIREA. In the new branded location, schoolchildren will be able to study system programming using Russian-made software, get familiarized with the Astra Linux operating system and other software products provided by the Astra Group vendor.

The laboratory, equipped with everything necessary for the educational process, is designed to simultaneously accommodate up to 20 students. The new location allows schoolchildren to perform feasible practical tasks on installing, configuring, updating and uninstalling software. School children learn to create user accounts, provide them with regulated access to server resources based on the Astra Linux OS, set local network parameters and connect the local network to the Internet. In addition, the laboratory can be used to implement interdisciplinary projects involving programming processes.

Previously, Altair was the first of the children's technology parks to successfully implement the course “Basics of the Astra Linux operating system” for students of 7–11 grades in Moscow. With the opening of the laboratory, the opportunities for children who want to get free access to technologies from one of the leading Russian software developers widen significantly.

The opening ceremony of the laboratory was attended by Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA and Fyodor Gennadievich Kirdyashov, Director of the Education Department of the Astra Group.

“We are pleased to have an effective cooperation with RTU MIREA and consider it of importance to develop it, through help in educating students and schoolchildren. One of the steps in this direction is the opening of an IT laboratory, thanks to which a significant priority goal of our company will be implemented, specifically, high-quality training of IT personnel. The laboratory is equipped with a wide software stack provided by Astra Group. I am convinced that it will become a solid foundation in the formation of multidisciplinary competencies of future specialists,” said Fyodor Kirdyashov, head of the education department of the Astra Group.

“Our cooperation with the Astra Group on the basis of the Altair Children's Technology Park is critically important for two reasons. Firstly, schoolchildren at already an early stage have the opportunity to get acquainted with a potential employer and its developments. And secondly, through joint efforts we are building a continuous system of education and training of specialists motivated to work in the industry. If the young people like working in the new laboratory with domestic software, then they can continue their studies at the University,” commented Stanislav Kudzh, rector of RTU MIREA.

The prospects for schoolchildren are very promising: having entered RTU MIREA, they can continue to familiarize themselves with the solutions of the Astra Group ecosystem and Russian developments within the framework of the Fullstack Development joint profile, as well as in the process of development of an additional program from the “Digital Department” - “Administration of domestic operating systems." Moreover, students will have the opportunity to undergo professional certification by the company. Schoolchildren can now take the first step in getting acquainted with domestic software and the Astra Group in a new laboratory in the Altair Children's Technology Park of RTU MIREA.
