A delegation from the University of Informatics Sciences visited RTU MIREA

On June 5, an official meeting was held at RTU MIREA with a delegation from the University of Informatics Sciences (Republic of Cuba) and the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba.

On behalf of RTU MIREA, the meeting was attended by Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Rector of the University, Nikolai Ivanovich Prokopov, First Vice-Rector, Irina Sergeevna Solunova, Deputy First Vice-Rector and Elena Sergeevna Odintsova, Head of the International Relations Department.

The meeting began with a welcoming speech from Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA. He thanked his Cuban colleagues – Rector Raydel Montesino Perurena and Vice-Rector Roexi Vega Prieto, as well as Dr. Gustavo Jose Cobreiro Suarez, Advisor for Science and Education of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation, for their interest in the University.

S.A. Kudzh told the guests about the history of the University, areas of training and the main activities of the University.

Dr. Raidel Montesino Perurena, in response, thanked his Russian colleagues for the warm welcome and emphasized that the visit to RTU MIREA was planned on the recommendation of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba. Dr. Rydel Montesino Perurena spoke about the University of Informatics Sciences. It was created by Fidel Castro’s order 20 years ago, and the main mission of the University was and still is the digitalization of Cuba. To this end, the University trains specialists in the field of computer science and information and communication technologies at the undergraduate, graduate and, more recently, postgraduate levels.

Representatives of the Republic of Cuba were given a tour of RTU MIREA. They visited educational and scientific centers and laboratories of the Institute of Information Technologies and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Mikhail Petrovich Romanov and Andrey Sergeevich Zuev, together with staff and students, gave a presentation of the best developments, talked about the organization of the educational process, and achievements in solving educational and applied problems. At the Situation Center of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, guests were told about the work of collecting, processing, concentrating, analyzing information and using modeling technologies. The tour of RTU MIREA ended at the Cyberzone Cybersport Center.

Members of the delegation were impressed by the modern facilities and technological equipment of the University and the high level of the educational process. “I have visited many universities around the world, and I can responsibly declare that RTU MIREA is one of the best among the best universities,” Dr. Raydel Montesino Perurena shared his impressions. “Your students have already visited our university in Cuba, now we have come to your university, and we can say that our cooperation has started.” The immediate plans cover a cooperation agreement, scientific and academic exchanges.

At the end of the visit, representatives of the Cuban delegation noted the hospitality and openness of RTU MIREA, the high level of organization of the reception of the delegation, and also expressed a desire to develop and strengthen academic and cultural ties.
