On May 15, an official meeting was held at RTU MIREA with a delegation from the University of Matanzas (Republic of Cuba) and the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba.
On behalf of RTU MIREA, the meeting was attended by Rector Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, First Vice-Rector Nikolai Ivanovich Prokopov and Head of the International Relations Department Elena Sergeevna Odintsova.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech from Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, rector of RTU MIREA. He thanked his Cuban colleagues,specifically, Dr. Leyda Finalé de la Cruz, Rector of the University of Matanzas, Dr. Jose Alfonso Macias Mesa, Deputy Director of the Department of International Relations of the University of Matanzas, and Dr. Gustavo José Cobreiro Suarez, Advisor for Science and Education of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation, for their interest in our University.
S.A. Kudzh told the visitors about the history of the University, areas of training, the functioning and capacities of research centers and laboratories of RTU MIREA.
Dr. Leyda Finalé de la Cruz, in her response, thanked her Russian colleagues for the warm welcome and emphasized the long traditions of cooperation between our countries. She noted that currently two graduates of RTU MIREA are studying at Matanzas University and working as teachers. The rector of the Cuban university expressed the hope that there will be many points of mutual interest between the two universities, which will develop into meaningful long-term cooperation.
Representatives of the Republic of Cuba were given a tour of RTU MIREA. They visited the educational and scientific centers and laboratories of the Institute of Information Technologies and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, where the leaders - Mikhail Petrovich Romanov and Andrey Sergeevich Zuev - together with the students made a presentation of the best developments, talked about the organization of the educational process, and achievements in solving educational and applied problems. At the Situation Center of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Alexey Nikolaevich Shchennikov spoke about the work of collecting, processing, accumulating, analyzing information and using modeling technologies. At the Cyberzone E-Sports Center, Vladislav Borisovich Ilnitsky demonstrated locations where students can practice their skills in e-sports and where the RTU MIREA e-sports team is trained in various disciplines, and also spoke about ongoing tournaments and events.
Members of the delegation were strongly impressed by the modern facilities and technological equipment of RTU MIREA and the high level of educational process.
The guests expressed their interest in the developments of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, their application in biomedicine, as well as the organization of the process of training specialists in this field. Dr. Leyda Finalé de la Cruz acknowledged that she was interested in developing this area of study at the University of Matanzas, and this could become one of the vectors of cooperation with RTU MIREA.
Representatives of the Cuban delegation noted that RTU MIREA and the University of Matanzas have many similar training programs and areas of scientific research. They also have a common interest in eSports.
At the end of the visit, representatives of the Cuban delegation noted the hospitality of RTU MIREA and its openness to cooperation, expressed their desire to strengthen ties and maintain regular business contacts.
