On October 21, Dirk Bochar, Director General of the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI), visited MIREA – Russian Technological University
FEANI (Fédération Européenne d'Associations Nationales d'Ingénieurs / European Federation of National Engineering Associations) was established in September 1951 in Luxembourg. Today FEANI represents over 350 national engineering associations from 33 European countries. All associations are recognized in their countries as representatives of the engineering profession at the national level. Through these national associations, FEANI represents the interests of approximately six million professional engineers in Europe. RosSNIO (the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations) is the only member of FEANI representing Russia.
FEANI’s activities are aimed at promoting mutual recognition of engineering qualifications in Europe and strengthening the position, role and responsibility of engineers in society.
The main and the most important activity of FEANI, which is supported by RosSNIO in Russia, is public and professional accreditation of educational programs (FEANI INDEX), the register of which contains a list of educational institutions and educational programs relating to the countries of cooperation and corresponding to the educational standards established by FEANI. Another important area of FEANI’s activity is the system of certification of engineering personnel in conformity with the European engineering standard (EUR ING) based on FEANI INDEX. It is much easier for a specialist to get into the register of European engineers, if he studied according to the programs accredited under the FEANI INDEX system. At the moment, the register includes over 33 thousand engineers from FEANI member countries.
Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA, Alexander Sergeevich Sigov, President of RTU MIREA, Andrei Sergeevich Zuev, Director of the Institute of Information Technologies, Andrei Georgievich Vasiliev, Director of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Telecommunication Systems, Mikhail Petrovich Romanov, Director of the Institute of Cybernetics took part in the meeting with Dirk Bochar, General Director of FEANI.
During the conversation, S.A. Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA, offered an overview of the university educational programs and spoke about the distinctive and most relevant features of the University, he also described its technological facilities. Videos about the University; the institutes and mega-laboratories were demonstrated in the course of the meeting. After an introductory part, the foreign visitor was invited to a sightseeing tour of the campus, where he was shown the mega-laboratories of the Institute of Information Technologies, the Institute of Radio Engineering and Telecommunication Systems, and the Institute of Cybernetics. In the end of the meeting, at the final session, both parties expressed mutual desire for further cooperation in engineering education and outlined the prospects for certification of new educational programs.
