Foreign students of RTU MIREA got acquainted with the traditions of celebrating the Chinese New Year in Moscow

In February, students of the preparatory department for foreign citizens of RTU MIREA went on a tour of the central streets of Moscow, where colorful decorations were installed in honor of the Chinese New Year. This event was a great opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere and get acquainted with the cultural traditions of China right in the center of Moscow.

In December 2024, UNESCO included the Chinese Spring Festival (Chinese Lunar New Year, or Chunjie), as well as rituals and unique cultural elements associated with this holiday, in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind. But traditional Chinese New Year decorations appeared on the streets of Russian cities in previous years, thanks to the close friendly relations between Russia and China.

During the tour, foreign students learned about the unique relationship between these two countries, facts from their history and culture. After all, studying at the preparatory department for foreign citizens of RTU MIREA is not only high-quality training in the Russian language and special subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Computer Science. It is also a constant immersion in the life and culture of Russia, with all its diversity and richness of events. Our students visit famous Moscow museums, interesting and diverse exhibitions and other cultural events, go on excursions, just walk along the ancient streets, learn about Russian life, traditions, comprehend the Russian mentality, and also learn to apply the Russian language in practice and not be afraid of live communication.

Russian culture is directly immersed in all the programs of the preparatory department for foreign citizens: in short-term courses of Russian as a foreign language, in the university preparation program, and during summer language schools, where students take an effective intensive course in spoken Russian.
