Institute of International Education, RTU MIREA, held an International Scientific and Practical Seminar for University Professors and Trainers of Russian as a Foreign Language

On April 19 and 20, the Department of the Russian Language (as a Foreign Language) of the Institute of International Education, RTU MIREA, held an International Scientific and Practical Seminar “Cultural Practices in the System of the Russian Language Education for Foreigners” for those teaching Russian as a Foreign Language

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Vector of Russian Studies Center of the Research Institute of Continuing Education under the auspices of  the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MGIMO), Moscow Automobile and Highway State Technical University (MADI), Moscow State Regional University (MGOU), Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPGU), Kosygin Russian State University (Technology. Design. Art), St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (LETI) named after Ulyanov, as well as representatives of the Republic of Belarus, China, Mongolia, and Turkey.

The event was devoted to topical issues of the methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language in current conditions: cultural education in the system of professional training of foreign nationals, the principles and forms of organizing work on the cultural aspect as part of the system of teaching Russian as a foreign language in universities of various types, the content of cultural education in humanities and technical university. In addition, the participants of the seminar spoke about the humanization of higher technical education, the language environment as the basis for the formation of the cultural competence of foreign students.

Particular attention was drawn to the text as an educational unit and its linguistic and cultural potential, multimedia cultural and linguistic environment in the system of professional training of foreign students.

The significance of the problems discussed at the seminar becomes even greater due to the analysis of issues relating to the content of extralinguistic information with a national and cultural component, criteria for selecting cultural material at different stages of vocational training, and the account of meta-subject connections in the process of forming the culturological competence of foreign students.
