RTU MIREA continues to strengthen its ties with Kyrgyzstan in science, education, and extracurricular activities, including collaboration within the CIS framework. In 2019, the university signed an agreement with the Institute of Youth Development of the Kyrgyz Republic. Each year, Kyrgyz applicants enroll at RTU MIREA and participate in a range of campus and international events.
Educational ties between the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic are based on the intergovernmental agreement on humanitarian cooperation signed on April 5, 2012. In 2019, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Russian Ministry of Education and the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education and Science. That same year, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs of Russia and the Government Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan also signed a memorandum on youth policy cooperation.
According to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, more than 20,000 Kyrgyz students are studying abroad, with the majority choosing Russia for higher education. For the 2024/2025 academic year, the Russian government allocated 700 places at Russian universities for students from the Kyrgyz Republic. Currently, about 14,000 Kyrgyz students are enrolled in Russian universities.
At the conclusion of his visit, Deputy Minister Makhmedkulov said he would like to return to RTU MIREA together with representatives of Kyrgyz engineering universities to exchange experiences and further develop academic cooperation.
