RTU MIREA and Samsung Electronics have agreed on the training curricula for the personnel to be working in the digital economy of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Samsung IT Academy project. Representatives of the Company and the University announced this at the ceremony of signing an agreement on the continuation of cooperation.

RTU MIREA and Samsung Electronics have been cooperating since 2017. The University became one of the first partners of the Samsung IT Academy, and today students are trained on the basis of the University in all three educational tracks of the program: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Mobile Development. Samsung IT Academy lecturers and trainers successfully use teaching materials developed by the experts of Samsung Research Center.

RTU MIREA and Samsung are also actively cooperating within the framework of another educational project – Samsung IT Schools. In 2019, Samsung became the first official industrial partner of the Altair Children’s Technopark of RTU MIREA and launched the Samsung IT School program there. During its implementation in the Altair Children’s Technopark, more than 100 schoolchildren have learned how to develop mobile applications, many of whom have become winners and prize-winners of specialized Olympiads and design competitions.

“For almost four years now, the first and one of the leading Samsung IT Academies in Russia has been operating on the basis of RTU MIREA; and Samsung Electronics is one of the main technological partners of our University. Today, at a new stage in the development of cooperation and interaction of our organizations, we have agreed on the curricula of all undergraduate and graduate programs of the Institute of Information Technologies, integrating three educational courses of Samsung IT Academy into them, specifically: Internet of Things, Mobile Development and Artificial Intelligence courses. The materials of these courses will be used to prepare over 1,500 students annually. The interaction of the University with such giants of the IT industry as Samsung Electronics is necessary to solve our fundamental task - train personnel for the digital economy of the Russian Federation,” said Stanislav Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA.

“We are proud of our cooperation with RTU MIREA and thank the University administration for such productive interaction. On the basis of the University, a complete educational trajectory for the training of highly qualified IT specialists has been successfully developed, starting from the school years. The University became one of the first partners of Samsung IT Academy, and now it is training students in all the three tracks of the program. Today we are entering a new stage of cooperation by agreeing on the training curricula for the country’s digital economy. I am sure that this event will become an important milestone in our joint work, and thus we will be able to make an even more significant contribution to the development of technology education,” noted Sergey Pevnev, Director of corporate projects at the headquarters of Samsung Electronics for the CIS countries.

Samsung IT Academy is a long-term free social educational program of Samsung Electronics. The project was launched in 2017. The Samsung IT Academy educational course is aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the IT areas that are in high demand.

Upon the results of training of schoolchildren and students in 2020, RTU MIREA became Samsung’s University of the Year in Russia.
