RTU MIREA and Rosatom start joint training programs for specialists in software robotics based on the Atom.RITA platform

03.03.2023

MIREA – Russian Technological University (RTU MIREA) and Rosatom are expanding cooperation in the development of educational initiatives for students and announce the launch of a joint program to train specialists in software robotics based on the import-substituting Atom.RITA platform, the state corporation's own development.

RTU MIREA is the first university to launch the pilot course “Robotics of business processes (RPA) on the Atom.RITA platform”. The training is very relevant for the activity of any modern organization, it largely consists of atomic processes, the efficiency and speed of which can be significantly increased through automation and robotization, which, among other things, is to result in an increase in profits.

The new course strengthens the interaction between RTU MIREA and Rosatom State Corporation. Thanks to the full-scale cooperation of the parties, students will have access to training on the import-independent software robotization platform Atom.RITA developed by the IT integrator of the nuclear industry, JSC Greenatom. Atom.RITA is a robotic intelligent technological assistant that provides a full cycle of software robotization of business processes: from creating software robots to their debugging, support and development. The development is included in the register of domestic software and registered with Rospatent.

“Solving the problem of ensuring technological sovereignty requires a multiple growth in the number of highly qualified specialists. In the near future, several thousand IT vacancies will appear in the nuclear industry. We place special emphasis on graduates of our core departments, so it is fundamentally important for us to involve them in solving practical industry problems even at the training stage. I am sure that such training will allow MIREA graduates to become competitive specialists,” said Mikhail Yermolaev, General Director of JSC Greenatom (part of Rosatom State Corporation).

Working on the program, students will not only master the functionality of the Atom.RITA platform. They will learn the basics of business analytics and learn how to model business processes, taking into account the specifics of software robotization; they will acquire skills to develop software robots using the Python language. At the end of the course, teams will be formed that will take part in the implementation of large software automation projects.

“Today, one of the important tasks of the educational community is to organize large-scale cooperation between educational institutions and industrial partners. I am glad that in our aspirations we are supported by such a giant of the industry as Rosatom and its enterprises. Thanks to our joint activities, RTU MIREA students can receive in-depth training in the most advanced areas, and the state corporation can select the best personnel for employment at an early stage,” said Stanislav Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA.

It is worth reminding that in 2022, RTU MIREA and the major IT companies that are part of Rosatom – JSC Greenatom and JSC Konsyst-OS – signed an agreement on the creation of a specialized department at the University to train future employees for the nuclear industry. As part of the “Software Engineering” specialization, a joint program “Information Technologies in the Nuclear Industry” was launched, within the framework of which IT specialists are being trained to be able to start working at Rosatom enterprises immediately after graduation. The plans of the parties include expanding cooperation at the stage of early career guidance for schoolchildren and launching a joint educational project based on the subdivision of RTU MIREA – Altair Children's Technopark, where children will master additional education programs developed by the University staff and the experts from the nuclear industry.

Education under the new program “Robotics of business processes (RPA) on the Atom.RITA platform” is available to second-year students of the direction of Software Engineering, studying Information Technologies in the Nuclear Industry, and students of 2-4 years of the direction of Applied Informatics, who study within the framework of elite training of RTU MIREA (additional program of fundamental and practical training at the University). It is planned that in future the course will be open to all students of these programs.

For reference:

JSC Greenatom is an IT integrator of Rosatom State Corporation. The company conducts its own software development, supports and develops corporate IT systems, develops software robots, is engaged in project management, import substitution, uses artificial intelligence and machine learning. The integrator implements the most important projects for the development of the digital ecosystem for the nuclear industry.

Konsyst-OS JSC is an internal integrator and competence center in information technology, information security, project management, as well as an Industry 4.0 digital technology center and operator of all data processing centers of the Electric Power division, including the largest data center in the Russian Federation and Europe - Data center “Kalininsky”.

MIREA - Russian Technological University (RTU MIREA) is one of the largest state technological universities in the country which provides training in such areas as information technology and data analysis, information and computer security, chemistry and biotechnology, radio electronics, robotics and industrial automation, economics and management, jurisprudence and design. One of the distinguishing features of the University is close cooperation with leading employers; graduates work in high technologies and science-intensive industries.
