RTU MIREA Broadens Ties with Cuba’s University of Information Sciences

On May 29, RTU MIREA welcomed a delegation from the University Of Information Sciences Of Cuba for an official meeting.

The delegation met with RTU MIREA First Vice-Rector Nikolai Ivanovich Prokopov, Vice-Rector Grigory Valerievich Petushkov, Deputy First Vice-Rector Irina Sergeyevna Solunova, Scientific Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Mikhail Petrovich Romanov, and Head of the International Relations Department Aleksandra Yevgenievna Sizemina.

First Vice-Rector Prokopov opened the meeting by thanking the Cuban guests — Professor Carlos Rafael Rodríguez Rodríguez, Dean of the Enterprise Informatics Faculty, and Delly Lien González Hernández, Head of the International Relations Directorate — for their return visit. He shared updates on RTU MIREA’s recent achievements in research and education, ongoing collaborations with industry partners, and involvement in federal initiatives like “Priority-2036” and “Advanced Engineering Schools.”

Vice-Rector Petushkov highlighted RTU MIREA’s focus on youth policy, emphasizing the importance of well-rounded education and active student participation in international programs. He noted that these efforts help foster intercultural dialogue, strengthen friendships, and encourage experience sharing among young professionals from different countries.

Prof. Carlos Rafael Rodríguez Rodríguez expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and gave an overview of the Faculty of Enterprise Informatics at his university. He pointed out the school’s practical approach, where students work on projects for government agencies under faculty guidance. He also noted many shared interests between his university and RTU MIREA.

The visit continued with a tour of RTU MIREA. The Cuban delegation explored the educational facilities, research centeres, and laboratories of the Institute of Information Technology and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence. IIT Director Andrei Zuyev and IAI Scientific Director Mikhail Romanov presented several ongoing projects and explained how the educational programs are organized.

Professor Rodríguez also delivered a lecture to students at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence titled “Combining Old and New AI Technologies: The Future Belongs to Hybridization,” which sparked lively interest.

At the close of the visit, the Cuban delegation praised RTU MIREA’s hospitality and openness, and expressed their eagerness to deepen cooperation and develop joint scientific and educational projects.
