MIREA – Russian Technological University took the 8th place in the ranking of universities of digital economy in Moscow and Saint Petersburg for 2023.

The rating was prepared by the Digital Economy ANO with the support of the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises (ACITE) and the Russian Ministry of Digital Development.

“We are proud of the fact that RTU MIREA is one of the leading universities in the field of IT-staff training. We pay the closest attention to the creation of advanced IT-infrastructure and acquire the most advanced equipment, often unique or available in Russia in single copies. This approach, as well as the involvement of leading companies in the industry, allows us to conduct advanced training of IT personnel. Moreover, students of almost all educational programs receive digital skills at our University, given its technological focus. After all, today it is impossible to imagine a lawyer, manager or economist, who would not use specialized software”, - commented Stanislav Kudzh, RTU MIREA rector.

In the ranking, 304 top universities were evaluated and 63 training directions and specialties relating to IT personnel were analyzed. Training in IT-specialties in this rating is understood as training in the directions of training and specialties in IT, as determined by the RF Ministry of Digital Development. The final results are offered in the form of ratings for two groups of universities: Moscow and Saint-Petersburg and separately for universities in other subjects of Russia.

The assessment of universities was carried out on the basis of official statistics on the training of IT personnel (data from the monitoring of universities by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia), and a survey of 90 respondents conducted by the Digital Economy. The respondents were represented by large accredited IT companies, founders of the ANO Digital Economy, and members of ACITE. The survey contained only open-ended questions. Upon its results, the total number of universities mentioned by the respondents included 157 educational institutions from 56 constituent entities of Russia.

RTU MIREA is actively engaged in forming digital competences of students of all disciplines. In particular, the Digital Department works as part of the University's participation in the “Priority-2030” project.
