RTU MIREA hosted a meeting of the working group to finalize the Youth Capital of the CIS project

On October 7, on the RTU MIREA premises, a meeting of the working group to finalize the Youth Capital of the CIS draft provisions was held in an online format.

The decision to create a working group was taken at a meeting of the CIS Youth Affairs Council, where the draft provisions developed jointly by RTU MIREA and the National Council of Youth and Children's Associations of Russia were adopted as a basis for further work.

The meeting chaired by Grigory Petushkov resulted in revised draft provisions. For example, in conformity with the draft document, the Council of the Heads of the CIS member states will be recognized as the founder of the interstate Youth Capital of the CIS program, which on an annual basis will select the youth capital of the Commonwealth. The government agencies coordinating the implementation of youth policy in collaboration with youth public organizations will act as organizers of the program in the CIS countries. The Youth Capital status will be granted for a period of one year. Another activity relating to the implementation of the program will be the youth events of national and international nature in the cities that were granted such status. 

The meeting of the working group was attended by the representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the CIS Executive Committee.

The participants noted that the implementation of the program will allow the countries to develop cooperation on international platforms, strengthen interaction in new formats relevant to young people.

In the course of the meeting, proposals were also made on the implementation of the program, including proposals on the format for selecting the Youth Capital of the CIS, on strengthening the role of public associations in interaction with the state authorities in the process of determining the status of the Youth Capital of the CIS, and, in general, the interaction of the countries during the program implementation.

Upon the results of the working group activity, a decision was made to submit the draft Provisions on the Youth Capital of the CIS interstate program to be discussed at the meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS member states to be held on October 16.
