On May 18, the IV International Festival “The World and MIREA” was held at the RTU MIREA main campus on 78 Vernadsky avenue. The Festival has already become traditional and brought together international students from more than 80 countries.
The Festival was organized by the Department of International Relations, the Institute of International Education, the Department of Educational and Social Work, as well as the Student Union of RTU MIREA.
The Festival is aimed to develop versatile international cultural contacts, preserve historical traditions of national cultures, civic spirit, strengthen friendship and mutual understanding, facilitate social adaptation of students from different countries in a new socio-cultural environment.
Within the framework of the Festival, a reception was organized for representatives of the embassies of foreign states. It was attended by: First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Chad in the Russian Federation Hassan Kashallah Kasser, First Counselor of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the Russian Federation Nzeba Aimé Kabamba, Advisor for Education and Science of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation Cobreiro Suarez Gustavo Jose, Attaché of the Cultural Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in the Russian Federation Mukhsen Anwar Abdo Ali, Assistant Attache of the Cultural Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in the Russian Federation Basim Hassan Al-Haideri, Press Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Russian Federation Albo Taslih Mohammed Imad Karim, Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea King Gori Ana Maria, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation Abdurakhmanov Fathulla Fayzullaevich, and chief specialist of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Ingushetia under the President of the Russian Federation Shamil Shakhgirievich Dzeitov.
RTU MIREA was represented by Alexander Sergeevich Sigov, President of RTU MIREA, Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, RTU MIREA Rector, Irina Sergeevna Solunova, Deputy First Vice-Rector, Irina Yurievna Burceva, acting Head of the Department of International Relations. A presentation of RTU MIREA centers and megalaboratories was organized for representatives of foreign embassies.
The mainstream program of the festival was organized for graduate students, students and international students from 20 countries – India, Cuba, Armenia, Vietnam, China, Iraq, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Zambia, Cameroon, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Syria, Russia, thus the Festival demonstrated the widest variety of cultures.
For each guest of the festival, a passport of a citizen of the world was prepared, which opened up an opportunity to virtually travel and receive visas of the countries participating in the festival.
At the exhibition, the participants could get familiarized with the cultural and historical heritage and traditions of different countries, see various souvenirs presented by the participating countries: wooden and wicker dishes, national clothes, jewelry, carved caskets, bone figurines, musical instruments and much more; visitors could also communicate with students from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the Far East.
Also, everyone willing could attend master classes and try their hand at calligraphy, get some knowledge of hieroglyphs, learn how to make tea in Chinese style or dance Caucasian dances, beat catching rhythms on drums, or make African braids, get an Indian pattern on their hands or a self-painted Uzbek crockery ornament.
No one remained indifferent to the fashion show, where the young girls and boys demonstrated national costumes, illustrating the national flavour that is individual for each country.
The holiday culminated in an international concert, which included the genre and style features of the dance and musical culture of numerous peoples of the world: the catchy rhythms of Syrian drummers and the most beautiful songs of representatives of the African continent, passionate dances of Chechnya, Ingushetia, Russia, and energetic and cheerful songs of Uzbekistan, dance-ritual of representatives from Chad and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the brightest representations of Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam, illustrating the history and culture of these countries.
A lot of positive emotions were evoked due to the communication of foreign students with their Russian mates and with each other, the opportunity to take individual and group photos with the participants of the festivity, dressed in national costumes, so pleasing to the eye with the brightest colors and various patterns.
The organizers express their deepest gratitude to everyone who took part in the preparation and holding of such a bright and colorful festival.
For many years, RTU MIREA has united students from different countries who not only study together, but also become true friends. We are convinced that this tradition will continue on and on.
