RTU MIREA student took part in the Youth Summit of the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2021)

Yaroslav Yasakov, a second-year student, specialty Legal support of national security, the Institute of Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies, after winning the competition, became member of the Working Group on the development of Artificial Intelligence at the Youth Summit within the framework of the XVI UN World Forum on Internet Governance (IGF 2021).

IGF 2021 opened on December 6 in the Polish city of Katowice. During the week, the forum participants will discuss topics related to the development of the Internet, the prospects for digital cooperation at the global and local levels.

Mateusz Morawiecki, Polish Prime Minister, António Guterres, UN Secretary General, and Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union opened the Forum.

The Youth Summit that was organized in preparation for the IGF 2021, was also attended by a representative of RTU MIREA, The Summit is a platform for discussing initiatives submitted by young people in the field of Internet governance.

The work of the Youth Summit, similarly to the entire forum, is held in a hybrid format, which makes it possible for young people from all over the world to take part in a large-scale discussion about the development of technology and the future of humanity in the digital age.

The Working Group on the Development of Artificial Intelligence examined the benefits, risks and ethics of using this approach, as well as its legal regulation. The results of these studies in the form of a project were presented by the participants of the working group at the opening of the forum. In particular, Yaroslav Yasakov presented the part of the project dedicated to the uniform development of artificial intelligence among nations.
