On December 8-9, the semi-finals and finals of the VII Russian CTF Cup 2023, an annual large-scale information security competition, was held on the premises of the Skolkovo Innovation Center.
The organizers of the event are the Skolkovo Innovation Center, the Association of Heads of Information Security Services (ARSIB), and the All-Russian public movement of mentors of children and youth “Mentors of Russia.” Competition partners are RDP, Sberbank, Gazprombank, Positive Technologies and others. The competition is held with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia, and the Department of Information Technologies of the city of Moscow.
Every year the CTF Cup brings together the strongest teams from Russia and the CIS countries. The competition is held in three stages: qualifying - in the "Jeopardy" format, semi-finals - in the "Attack Defense" format and the finals, each time held by the organizers in a new format. In 2023, participants in the final stage were offered a platform game; the victory implied that as many items as possible be collected, which could be accessed via hacking the game’s functionality.
This year, at the CTF Cup of Russia 2023, RTU MIREA was represented by a team of students from the Department KB-4 “Intelligent Information Security Systems” of the Institute of Cyber Security and Digital Technologies - “cR4.sh” in the team members: Matvey Bukhtoyarov, Artyom Tikhonov, Mikhail Kobyak, Nikita Babkov, Ivan Naydenov, Ilyas Nasibullin, Mikhail Luzgin.
The team took absolute first place in the semi-finals, among the teams participating in the academic and mixed competitions, which was held in the “Attack Defense” category, and in the finals came in second place in the academic competition.
The victory in large-scale all-Russian competitions became possible due to the systematic preparation, organization and support of the team by the trainers - insructors of the department KB-4 “Intelligent Information Security Systems” of IKB RTU MIREA.
