On July 2, on the initiative of Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, RTU MIREA Rector, the solemn opening procedure of the memorial to students and teachers who left for the front took place at the University Military Training Center. The event was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The idea of this significant event was based on the desire to immortalize the deed of the RTU MIREA lecturers and students who went to the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. The memorial is an original composition: a granite pedestal is crowned with a five-pointed metal star in the center and a fountain pen in a groove installed as a rifle symbolizing the courage of the defenders of their Motherland.

A very impressive part of the whole event was the participation of the unit of the All-Russian Children’s and Youth Public Movement of the Western Administrative District of Moscow Junior Army and the RTU MIREA Junior Army Unit. To the sounds of the anthem of the Russian Federation, the banner of our country, the RTU MIREA flag with the symbols of the University, and the flag of the RTU MIREA Military Training Center were raised in front of the ranks of the ceremony participants and the guests of honor.

S.A. Kudzh, RTU MIREA Rector, made an impressive speech in which he noted: “The memory of the past determines our life today. This is a vivid example of universal respect, patriotic education of children, teenagers and youth. I would like to hope that the monument in our Military Training Center will be a place of universal pride and admiration for the heroic deed of our colleagues.”

The opening of the memorial started with the traditional cutting of a red ribbon by the RTU MIREA Rector and the guests of honor.

The military band of the 147th motor transport base of the RF Ministry of Defense directed by the bandmaster Captain Vladislav Valerievich Mysheev took part in the opening of the memorial.
The veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the leadership of the Moscow district council of veterans, and representatives of the commandment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were among the guest of honor.
