Yandex and MIREA – Russian Technological University have launched joint training programs on data management and security of software solutions. The new courses are designed to prepare practicing engineers in the fields of data analytics, machine learning and cybersecurity. Training will begin this fall.

New programs will be available to students of the Institute of Information Technologies and the Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies. 1st and 2nd year students will study Python, C++, as well as algorithms and data structures using materials from Yandex Handbooks – online programming textbooks. Teachers will be able to give assignments and tests to students, and track their progress in the system.

For 3rd and 4th year students, elective courses have been organized where students can study algorithms and data structures, C++, Python, Go and ML according to the Yandex School of Data Analysis program.

“I am glad that the agreement on joint training of IT specialists, recently concluded between RTU MIREA and Yandex, is already leading to concrete results in the form of the launch of joint programs. For RTU MIREA, within the framework of the “Priority 2030” project, one of the most important areas of development is the launch of new educational programs, first of all, together with industrial partners.

For students of RTU MIREA, Yandex's participation in the educational process means improving the quality of IT training and gaining practical experience directly from leading industry experts. It is important to note that this opens up new opportunities for continuing education at RTU MIREA for graduates of the Yandex Lyceum, which operates on the basis of the Altair Children's Technology Park of RTU MIREA. In addition, Yandex will have the opportunity to early select motivated talented personnel, and the state as a whole will have young specialists ready to compensate for the professional needs of the digital economy,” said Stanislav Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA.

As a leader in the IT industry, Yandex is very well aware of the current needs of the market and will help prepare practicing engineers specializing in certain areas of development. In the direction of Applied Informatics, training is conducted by Yandex-certified teachers from RTU MIREA, and at the Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies – by a Yandex representative.

“Recently, both the need for developers and the interest in IT education, in particular, machine learning, on the part of the applicants has been growing. The School of Data Analysis trains world-class ML specialists who create breakthrough technologies and services that work in science. The appearance of Data Analysis School disciplines in the university curriculum is an opportunity to introduce students to advanced approaches in machine learning. The availability of IT services and AI-based technologies raises an important question about the security of the Internet space, and therefore, the demand for specialists in the field of cybersecurity and techno-ethics is increasing. That is why Yandex and RTU MIREA are coming out with a joint program in this area,” says Daria Kozlova, Director of education at Yandex.

Yandex is one of the key industrial partners of RTU MIREA. The company holds open-door days and excursions to its headquarters for university students. In addition, the Yandex Lyceum operates on the basis of the Altair Children's Technology Park, organized by the University; eight study groups of schoolchildren are already getting acquainted with IT professions here.

Yandex and RTU MIREA implement joint educational programs within the following areas of training: Data Management – 03.09.03 “Applied Informatics” of the Institute of Information Technologies; Security of Software Solutions – 03.09.02 “Information Systems and Technologies” of the Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies.
