26.04.2024

On April 25, an open dialogue took place between Konstantin Ilyich Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the Russian Historical Society and members of the Arctic Team Student Expeditionary Corps from 23 universities in Moscow.

More than 10 years of successful volunteer activity at RTU MIREA resulted in the creation of the Arctic Team Student Expeditionary Corps established on the initiative of the students with the assistance of the Compass Foundation for the Support and Development of Environmental Initiatives.

Having accumulated invaluable experience within the framework of the university’s work and having completed 2023 with the 48th expedition to Antarctica, RTU MIREA volunteers decided to scale the project to the interuniversity level. Now students of any higher educational institution in the Russian Federation will be able to pass the selection process and go on amazing expeditions throughout our vast Motherland, test their will and strength, conquering the high-latitude regions of the country.

Konstantin Ilyich came to support the project not only as a representative of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, but also as a historian and citizen. The students discussed with him the issue of organizing the exposition of the reporting photo exhibition of the 2024 expedition season within the walls of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, as well as aspects related to the internal logistics of students from other regions within the framework of the “More than a Travel” program.

The main achievement of the agreement on interaction between the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Team Arctic Student Expeditionary Corps was the agreement on cooperation between scientific directors of laboratories of the country’s universities and participants of expeditions conducting scientific research. In addition, the prospects for interaction between the Russian Historical Society and search and patriotic units were considered.

The meeting was also attended by Sergei Anatolyevich Chechulin, head of the expedition direction of the Russian Geographical Society. On behalf of the Russian Geographical Society, he presented gratitude to representatives of the administration of RTU MIREA and participants of joint expeditions in 2023.

The event was exciting, emotional and, as usual in the family of the Arctic Team Student Expeditionary Corps, homely and warm. Now that the plans have been outlined and the goals set, preparations for interuniversity expeditions and the formation of teams begin.
