Upon the results of the IEEE Admission and Advancement (A&A) Senior Member Review Panel Meeting, a decision was taken to award Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov, the Associate Professor of the Department of Biocybernetics Systems and Technologies of RTU MIREA, the IEEE Senior Member degree.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the major professional association of engineers in the world. Under the auspices of the IEEE, the most prestigious scientific journals in the field of technical sciences are published; the IEEE also issues the standards for key modern technologies, such as, for example, the Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.

The IEEE Senior Member degree means the recognition by the IEEE of the candidate’s significant contribution in the areas that are the object of the IEEE’s activity.

As of October 2020, the number of IEEE Senior Members does not exceed 12% of the total number of the IEEE members. In Russia at the moment, only 45 people hold this degree. Of these, only 10, including A.M. Romanov, received it after less than 15 years after graduation.
