The Institute of Information Technologies integrates the domestic BPMSoft platform into educational programs

19.04.2024

MIREA – Russian Technological University and the LANIT Omni company (part of the LANIT group of companies) are starting to train specialists with the in-demand skills of low-code development and business process automation using modern domestic software. The parties signed an agreement under which educational programs will be adjusted with the account of the in-depth development of the relevant competencies of future graduates.

Starting from the spring semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, the BPMSoft platform has been integrated into the educational process of the discipline “Business Process Reengineering” for 3rd year students of the Informatization of Organizations profile of the Department of Practical and Applied Informatics of the Institute of Information Technologies.

The cooperation between LANIT Omni and RTU MIREA has become part of the long-term BPMSoft Education academic initiative aimed at training young specialists at universities in Russia and Belarus with the skills to work with current IT systems. As part of the agreement, the university received licenses for the low-code platform BPMSoft Constructor.

Now young IT specialists will get acquainted with the architectural features, specifications and notations of a BPM system in lectures, while in practical classes they will build, launch, analyze and manage business processes using software from LANIT Omni. In the next academic year, RTU MIREA will expand the variety of tasks that students will analyze and introduce BPMSoft into the educational process of the discipline “Information systems for managing corporate content and customer relationships.”

In the fall of 2023, students of the master's program “Corporate and Distributed Information Systems” of the Institute of Information Technologies already had the opportunity to get acquainted with BPMSoft within the framework of the Software of Corporate Information Systems subject. This experience turned out to be successful, so the Institute’s management made the low-code platform a mandatory element of the undergraduate curriculum.

Andrey Zuev, Director of the Institute of Information Technologies, said: “RTU MIREA strives to accumulate all modern technologies within itself through strategic partnerships with large companies producing domestic software, such as “LANIT Omni.” We believe that vocational education should not be torn away from the real business sector. The Department of Practical and Applied Informatics implements the bachelor’s educational program “Informatization of Organizations”, within which students study current products of electronic document management, design of information systems and services, and automation of business processes. If these technologies are in demand by the market, then the next generation of IT specialists should master them.”

Yuri Vostrikov, General Director of LANIT Omni said: “Our cooperation will help RTU MIREA students master the skills of working with the BPMSoft low-code platform, a current Russian software product that is in high demand in various sectors of the economy: from the financial sector and IT to energy and mining. This knowledge will be useful for students’ future careers in large Russian companies.”

The Institute of Information Technologies of RTU MIREA trains bachelors and masters in the following areas: software engineering, applied computer science, computer science and computer technology, applied mathematics. Involving advanced IT specialists in teaching and scientific projects ensures sustainable positive dynamics in the development of the University. In addition, material and technical equipment and a wide range of cooperation with government and commercial enterprises both in Russia and abroad create favorable conditions for the professional growth of graduates.
