RTU MIREA hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK

On April 8, an official meeting was held at RTU MIREA with the delegation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, headed by Mr. Kim Sung Du, Minister of Education of the DPRK.

On behalf of RTU MIREA, the meeting was attended by Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Rector of the University, Grigory Valerievich Petushkov, Vice-Rector, Irina Sergeevna Solunova, Deputy First Vice-Rector, and Elena Sergeevna Odintsova, Head of the International Relations Department.

The business meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation: Nikolai Yuryevich Kudryavtsev, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, and Svetlana Konstantinovna Skornyakova, Chief Specialist, Expert of the Bilateral Cooperation with Non-CIS Countries Division of the Department of International Cooperation.

The meeting began with a welcoming speech by Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Rector of RTU MIREA, who thanked his North Korean colleagues for their interest in the University, told the guests about its history, areas of training, main achievements, and the functioning and the capacity of the research centers and laboratories of RTU MIREA.

Grigory Valerievich Petushkov, Vice-Rector of the University, spoke about the experience of cooperation between RTU MIREA and the Socialist Union of Patriotic Youth of the DPRK.

In his speech, the Minister of Education of the DPRK Kim Sung Du thanked his Russian colleagues for the warm welcome, emphasized the importance of long traditions of cooperation between the countries, and expressed hope for continued positive interaction.

In the course of negotiations, the parties expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in the field of education, including training both in the main educational programs implemented by RTU MIREA and in academic exchange programs.

Representatives of the North Korean delegation noted that there are many similarities between the technological universities of the DPRK and RTU MIREA, including similar training programs and areas of scientific research. According to colleagues from the DPRK Ministry of Education, this will contribute to long-term and fruitful cooperation. For his part, Mr. Kim Sung Du plans to convey information about RTU MIREA to universities in the DPRK and further promote the development of interuniversity interaction and the establishment of partnerships.

In the course of the visit, the DPRK delegation took part in a tour of RTU MIREA, visiting the educational and research centers and laboratories of the Institute of Information Technology and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, the Situation Center and the Cyberzone Cybersport Center. Members of the delegation were impressed by the up-to-date facilities and high level of technical and technological equipment of RTU MIREA.

North Korean colleagues appreciated in particular the attention that RTU MIREA pays to ensuring the continuity of “school - university - work” chain, namely, diverse interaction with schoolchildren and the organization of an on-going dialogue with employers, the traditional involvement of the latter in building the educational process to train professionals who are in high demand in the labor market .

Representatives of the delegation noted the hospitality and thoroughness of the staff of RTU MIREA in organizing the working meeting and excursion, their careful approach and dedication to their work.
