RTU MIREA presented its own exposition at the 16th International Exhibition of Composite Materials, Composite Production Technologies, Equipment and Products from Composite Materials “Composite - Expo 2024”

02.04.2024

On March 26–28, employees of RTU MIREA, representing Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies (Lomonosov IFCT), the Institute for Advanced Technologies and Industrial Programming, research centres, took part in the 16th International Exhibition " Composite - Expo 2024". It is the only international specialized exhibition of composite materials, technologies, equipment and products in Russia, which clearly demonstrates the achievements in the field of development of materials science, and is aimed to assist exhibitors in establishing new business contacts and partnerships in this area.

Samples of materials and products created by modern technologies in the field of polymer, ceramic, metal-polymer composite materials were presented at the stand of RTU MIREA, which aroused great interest among visitors of the exhibition.

Among the presented samples and technologies, samples with modified surfaces were demonstrated for use in heat exchangers and pipelines of heating networks, high-pressure apparatuses, steam boilers, flow parts of hydraulic turbines and pumping equipment with an operating principle based on reducing the hydraulic resistance of pipelines and the rate of deposits formation, increased resistance to corrosive and cavitation-abrasive wear of structural materials to improve the efficiency of power equipment and heating network equipment. The development and production of environmentally friendly coatings for children's and sports grounds, the housing technology for microwave transistors based on a metal matrix composite based on aluminum and silicon carbide, the metallized elastomer-fabric material that meets fire safety standards for heat-reflecting suits of various levels of protection, the technology for modifying polymer composites materials through microencapsulation to protect the internal surface of water treatment, hydrogas treatment, chemical, petrochemical, galvanic, heating equipment and structures, the floors and building elements operating under constant exposure to an aggressive environment were also demonstrated.

The presented samples of ceramics for various purposes aroused interest: capacitor ceramics, lead-free piezoceramics, electrical insulating ceramics with a resistance of up to 4 ohms, refractory ceramics with operating temperatures up to 1700˚C (crucibles, capsules, microcrucibles), ceramic composite materials for microwave applications, ceramics for electronics (VK 100-2, VK 95, steatite, forsterite), ceramic powders for 3D printing, composite materials (powders, filaments and suspensions) for 3D printing.

Information on the implementation of additional professional education on the structure, composition, structure and properties of polymers and polymer composite materials, scientific and technical, technological and other problems in the field of technology of plastic and polymer composite materials processing technology was also presented.

The fourth conference “Practical aspects of the use of composite materials in various industries” was held within the exhibition. The event promotes the dissemination of innovative information and the exchange of professional experience, where representatives of enterprises of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia noted the catastrophic shortage of specialists in the field of materials science, which is hindering the development and implementation of the roadmap for the development of the “Technologies of New Materials and Substances” high-tech field.

The RTU MIREA stand aroused great interest both among representatives of trading/supply companies and representatives of manufacturing companies representing the real sector of the economy.
