The Research and Educational Center for Biosynthesis, Isolation and Purification of Monoclonal Antibodies (Generium) is a mega laboratory that was opened at the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy of Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies. It was created for the targeted training of highly qualified personnel for the biopharmaceutical industry.
Main areas of the laboratory work
Skills to be acquired in the Laboratory
The Research and Educational Center has its own targeted curriculum. Its development involved specialists from the companies – leaders of the domestic market in the field of biotechnological development and production of pharmaceuticals, in particular, Generium JSC, as well as international manufacturers of pharmaceutical equipment for bioprocesses: Global Life Science Solutions RUS LLC, Sartorius LLC Stedim RUS and JSC 3M Russia.
The program includes a lecture course and practical training. The one-of-a-kind lecture course was created by the staff lecturers of RTU MIREA with the support of the leading specialists of Generium JSC. Students get practical skills in a new research and educational laboratory equipped with modern research and technological equipment. The curriculum also presupposes the implementation of qualifying master's theses by students on current issues of the biopharmaceutical sector.
The development and production of a new generation of immunobiological drugs based on monoclonal antibodies is currently one of the most advanced areas in the biopharmaceutical sector. However, enterprises in this fast-growing sector are experiencing a shortage of high-quality personnel. Therefore, the research and educational center, on the one hand, is a guarantee that the current needs of employers to graduates be satisfied, on the other, it provides the timely training of specialists whose knowledge and skills are in high demand by the industry.
Laboratory equipment
The laboratory is equipped with modern tools and devices for modeling the production and purification of monoclonal antibodies, which allows to effectively select students and offer targeted training of specialists who have a theoretical background and practical skills to solve problems in real production.
Partner company
