Elastomers. Thermoplastics. Technologies Educational and Research Center operating on the basis of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Elastomer Processing named after F.F. Koshelev

The Department of Chemistry and Technology of Elastomer Processing named after F.F. Koshelev is one of the Russian leaders in training unique specialists in chemistry and technology for processing elastomers for domestic industry.

Elastomeric materials are used in all industries (space, defense, chemical, petrochemical, electric power, light, food, medical, agricultural, woodworking, construction, paint and varnish and others). Specialists are engaged in scientific developments in the field of synthesis, physics, chemistry and technology for processing elastomeric materials; design and simulation of the operation of products made of elastomeric materials.

Elastomers, Thermoplastics, Technologies Megalaboratory was created on the basis of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Elastomer Processing named after F.F. Koshelev, it has the necessary combination of high-quality laboratory and production equipment to provide a pilot production site and research a wide range of properties of various types of polymer materials.

The key tasks that specialists are to solve in the megalaboratory:

  • Development of research methodology for modern elastomeric materials;

  • Development of formulations for elastomeric materials for various purposes;

  • Simulation of the operation of elastomeric materials and products;

  • Calculation and design of elastomeric products;

  • Coordination of work on import substitution of raw materials for the production of elastomeric materials and products together with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade;

  • Analytical, consulting and expert activities in the field of elastomeric materials technology.

The capabilities of the megalaboratory are in demand in the implementation of educational programs for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies in the field of Chemical Technology.

Using the equipment of this megalaboratory, as well as a number of others, the Department conducts active scientific and technical cooperation with industry enterprises, associations, research centers, RAS institutions and universities:
