03.12.2025

MIREA — Russian Technological University hosted this fall’s major AtomFest festival, backed by Rosatom State Corporation. One in a series of events marking the 80th anniversary of Russia’s nuclear industry, the festival drew a record number of participants eager to learn more about high-tech innovations and careers in the sector.

First Pro-Rector Nikolai Ivanovich Prokopov and AO Greenatom General Director Andrei Stanislavovich Lavrov co-hosted the opening ceremony. In his welcoming address, Andrei Lavrov delivered an expert lecture spotlighting career paths and growth opportunities in cutting-edge nuclear technology companies.

Students were invited to ask questions directly to Greenatom’s CEO. After a lively Q&A session, Mr. Lavrov selected the most interesting question and awarded its author a certificate for an educational trip to one of Russia’s atomic-industry townships. Opening attendance topped 600.

A screening of the film titled New IT Direction Quantum, followed by expert analysis, offered a deep drive into the modern day of nuclear energy. Discussion of the film together with Genrikh Palchikov, an expert from the General Education Department of “Rosatom — Quantum Technologies,” bridged theory to practice, tackling the most topical issues of high-tech progress. Over 80 students joined the debate.

These festival’s interactive events kept the energy high:

“Atomic Quiz”: An erudition showdown and nuclear history quiz, which drew 70+ players; and

“Culture of the Bold” business game: Teams tackled real industry cases, honing project work and critical thinking skills; 50+ students competed.

A special photo zone was open to the participants throughout the day. It was also the site of an AtomFest merch raffle. Top debaters and activity winners scored organizer swag.

AtomFest’s success at RTU MIREA underscores the young generation’s passion for cutting-edge technologies and nuclear science. Beyond providing access to unique firsthand knowledge, the festival has been a great networking opportunity. As the festival continues, attendees can look forward to virtual plant tours, expert lectures, and new interactive experiences.
