On December 12, an expanded international roundtable on “Developing and Implementing a Model for Promoting Russian Language Education in Secondary Schools of China, Laos, and Vietnam” convened at the A.I. Herzen State Pedagogical University in Saint Petersburg, with in-person and online participation. Presentations were delivered by instructors from Chinese, Vietnamese, Laotian and Russian educational institutions.
RTU MIREA was represented by Deputy First Pro-Rector Irina Sergeyevna Solunova and the Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language at the Institute of International Education, Doctor of Educational Sciences Yelena Nikolayevna Tarasova.
The Russian scholars and methodologists discussed the need for developing and implementing effective models of promoting secondary-school-level teaching methods of Russian abroad, focusing on practice, interdisciplinarity, and the specifics of Russian universities targeted by potential international applicants.
Additional presentations shared data on efforts to expand Russian language instruction to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Lao People’s Democratic Republic, as well as Russian language programs and practices to secondary schools in the People’s Republic of China.
The roundtable was organized by the Center for International Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Education.
