On December 13, RTU MIREA and SP Kvant LLC signed an agreement finalizing the procedure for the university to join the National Quantum Laboratory consortium. The corresponding decision was made at the meeting of the consortium council held on December 6 at the ATOM Museum location at VDNKh.

RTU MIREA's achievements in the field of quantum technologies were represented by the developments of the Institute of Information Technologies to create a platform for implementing quantum computing. Based on the results of the first cycle of the Quantum Computing industry accelerator, the platform received confirmation of compliance with the goals and objectives of the Quantum Computing roadmap for 2025–2030, developed by the Rosatom State Corporation and approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

The Institute of Information Technologies carries out research in quantum computing, there is a three-qubit quantum computer on which practical work is carried out in the course of Fundamentals of Quantum Computing, implemented within the framework of the elite training program of RTU MIREA.

The National Quantum Laboratory federal project was launched by the State Corporation Rosatom in November 2020. The consortium consolidates the efforts of universities, research centers, development teams, startups, technology companies and financial organizations and is the basis of the domestic quantum ecosystem. The consortium aims to develop quantum and quantum-related technologies in Russia, as well as to ensure the global competitiveness of Russian quantum technologies, products and services.
