The Department of Foreign Languages at the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies actively develops faculty-level partnerships with Brazilian universities: Russian and Brazilian academics regularly co-author joint papers.
One vivid example of this academic synergy is collaboration between Associate Professor Lyudmila Ivanovna Baturina and Professor Boris Zabolotsky, a former graduate of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Currently, Professor Zabolotsky teaches international relations at UNIFACS University in Salvador, Brazil.
During her visit to Brazil on August 15, Lyudmila Baturina delivered an introductory lecture titled “International Business Communications” to Professor Zabolotsky’s students, sparking lively interest among the audience. Although the lecture was mainly conducted in Portuguese, students fluently switched between Portuguese and English. The absence of language barriers in the academic environment is an additional facilitating factor of productive dialogue.
Proficiency in English remains a key factor in deepening international cooperation: the current generation of students in both Russia and Brazil demonstrate good language skills, opening vast opportunities for complex academic exchanges and advanced joint programs.
