28.10.2025

On October 24–25, the RTU MIREA Institute of International Education took part in the international academic and practical conference titled “The Magic of INNO: Linguistics and Language Education in New Formats of Multilateral Interaction.”

The event brought together leading scholars and foreign language educators from Russia, Hungary, Israel, Iran, India, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries to explore today’s biggest challenges and prospects in language education amid global changes. Discussions focused on fresh interaction models, digital tools (especially AI in the classroom), and intercultural dialogue.

Valeria Viktorovna Aleshnikova, instructor at the IIE Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, presented a talk titled “A Foreign Language Teacher’s Communicative Strategies in Higher Education: the Motivation Strategy.” Drawing on cognitive linguistics, she discussed various definitions of “communicative strategy” for instructors and walked through key verbal tactics used to motivate students, complete with real examples from university teaching practice.

During informal conversations with colleagues from Hungary and Iran, Valeriya Viktorovna also exchanged insights on current trends in language education and picked up on cultural nuances through direct dialogue with speakers from other linguistic backgrounds. Moments like these open doors to future joint academic projects and initiatives, and underscore just how vital international cooperation is for the future of education.
