The largest ethnographic museum and park in Russia, “Ethnomir,” is currently hosting the 3rd International Student Media Gathering, co-organized by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and RTU MIREA. The event brings together 100 international students and experts in international relations and media.
Participants include foreign students studying in Russia who are active in student media or run blogs about their experiences, from 36 countries, 26 Russian cities, and 50 universities.
This international event offers a unique opportunity for participants to:
Over five days, students take part in an educational program and immediately put their new skills to the test by creating content.
“Today, over 400,000 international students are studying at Russian universities. They receive high-quality education, master in-demand professions, expand their social circles, and immerse themselves in our country’s culture, language, and traditional values. Among these talented young people are many aspiring media professionals — future journalists or simply active students eager to share their thoughts and advice with a wide audience. In the coming days, you’ll work with top experts, learn about new media tools, meet like-minded peers, and develop new project ideas,” emphasized Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
After the training sessions, teams will create videos about Russian culture and values and compete individually in five categories: photo, video, text, design, and multimedia project. The best team and individual winners will enjoy a press tour to Teriberka, a village on the Barents Sea in Murmansk Oblast.
The event’s media partner is “Adventures of Foreigners in Russia,” the go-to resource for current and prospective international students in Russia. The project publishes news, legal guides, useful articles, contests, student achievements, and more. All media coverage of the gathering will be featured on this platform.
This is the third time the Ministry has held the gathering. Previous events took place in Serpukhov and Volgograd, attended by 200 international students from across Russia. Many past participants have since become professional journalists, bloggers, or work in international relations.
