On August 4, RTU MIREA welcomed a delegation from the Republic of Guinea led by Sankon Allassory, Advisor at the Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in the Russian Federation. The delegation also included Diallo Alseni, Cultural Advisor at the Guinean Embassy; Nabe Abu, Deputy General Director of the National Scholarship Service for Students Studying Abroad, and two officials of the same Service: Sanduno Demika Fea, Technical Director, and Balonji Jessy Mbo, Head of Department.
RTU MIREA was represented at the meeting by First Vice-Rector Nikolai Ivanovich Prokopov, Deputy First Vice-Rector Irina Sergeyevna Solunova, and Head of the International Relations Directorate Alexandra Evgenyevna Sizemina.
The First Vice-Rector opened the meeting with a welcoming speech in which he thanked the distinguished guests for their interest in the university and for visiting it in person. Mr. Prokopov introduced the guests to the university’s education system, principal training programs, and current study and research facilities, which include 28 megalaboratories.
Irina Sergeyevna Solunova noted that RTU MIREA trains students from 80 countries, including the Republic of Guinea, and highlighted that these students have proven themselves to be highly motivated learners. Notably, two graduates from Guinea in the class of 2025 completed their degrees with honors.
In his response statement, Advisor Sankon Allassory expressed gratitude for the welcome accorded to the delegation and said that his country was interested in developing research and educational cooperation with RTU MIREA, including the signing of a cooperation agreement between the university and the National Scholarship Service for Students Studying Abroad.
The official part of the visit continued with a tour of RTU MIREA. The guests visited the megalaboratories of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence.
The meeting marked an important step in strengthening cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Guinea, which is expected to give rise to joint initiatives and to increase the number of students from Guinea studying at RTU MIREA.
