RTU MIREA Students Take Second Place at International Robotics Competition “RTC Cup: Premier League”

26.09.2025

Students of the Institute of Advanced Technologies and Industrial Programming continue to shine at international robotics competitions. This time, the university team delivered an impressive performance at the RTC Cup: Premier League hackathon in Novosibirsk, securing a well-deserved second place.

The team — Aleksandr Pavlichenko, Ksenia Petrova, and Maksim Nikolayev — once again showcased their strong preparation, teamwork, and skill in tackling complex engineering challenges under tight time constraints.

This year’s hackathon challenge was especially engaging and focused on real-world applications of unmanned technologies. Participants were tasked with implementing autonomous driving in an urban environment: their robots had to independently reach a specially marked destination, navigating road markings, traffic lights, and signs. The setup simulated a full-scale urban infrastructure, demanding a multiskilled approach from the team — from fine-tuning hardware to developing computer vision algorithms and control systems.

The RTU MIREA students invested significant effort in preparing for the contest. They worked out various driving scenarios, trained their system to recognize road objects, and tested obstacle-avoidance strategies. Their dedication paid off, producing a reliable solution that successfully passed every stage of the competition and secured them a place among the leaders.

More than just a contest of knowledge and skill, the hackathon offered an authentic taste of real-world engineering challenges.

The RTU MIREA students’ second-place finish was a well-earned reward for their persistence and teamwork. We congratulate them on this achievement and look forward to their continued success, steady progress, future victories, and professional growth.
