The Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has once again welcomed students from RTU MIREA, under the two universities’ long-standing partnership program. This semester, nine RTU MIREA students have begun their bachelor’s and master’s-level studies at BIT, one of China’s leading universities, and are eager to share their first impressions of the cultural environment, learning opportunities, and welcoming atmosphere they have discovered.
“We were given a very warm welcome. The BIT staff and volunteers helped us with transportation, accommodation, and settling in, though it was still difficult at first to adapt to an unfamiliar university environment. Over time, I gained confidence, started understanding the language and study process better, and now I’m really enjoying the new experiences. The main thing is not to be afraid and take the first steps!”
Idar Ashkhotov, student of group EFBO-02-23
“Communicating with international students is incredibly interesting. We play all kinds of board games, share our favorite music, and introduce on another to our countries’ cultural traditions. There’s a spirit of friendship and understanding in the dorms. It’s a unique chance to broaden your horizons and make new friends from all over the world!”
Aleksandr Gerasimov, student of group INBO-20-23
RTU MIREA students study at BIT free of charge through the BIT Exchange Student Scholarship, which involves a rigorous selection process.
“Studying abroad is not only about learning new subjects and gaining international experience — it’s about immersing yourself in another culture, developing personal and professional qualities, and building international connections that can form the foundation for future projects,” said Irina Solunova, Deputy First Vice-Rector of RTU MIREA. “We are grateful to Beijing Institute of Technology for their support and for offering this opportunity to our students.”
RTU MIREA and Beijing Institute of Technology have been partners since 2023 and are active members of ATURC (Association of Technological Universities of Russia and China). So far, some one hundred students have had the chance to expand their horizons and become part of the international academic and research community.
We are confident that, after gaining this valuable experience, the RTU MIREA students will become leaders in their fields and worthy representatives of Russia on the global stage.
