On October 18–19, the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” (MEI) hosted the Superfinal of the V.G. Navodnov Open International Student Internet Olympiad in Mathematics.

This prestigious academic competition brings together winners and prize-winners of the final round of the Open International Student Internet Olympiad as well as laureates of other national and international contests.

This season, the Superfinal gathered 77 students from 30 universities across 15 cities of Russia and other countries. Among them were four RTU MIREA students who had been finalists in the May round held in Yoshkar-Ola.

The first day of the competition featured an individual round with ten problems to be solved within 240 minutes. Based on the results, RTU MIREA students received the following awards:

  • Yaroslav Belyaev (group KMBO-02-22) — First Degree Diploma, gold medal, and a valuable gift
  • Pyotr Boikov (group KVBO-33-24) — Second Degree Diploma, silver medal, and a valuable gift
  • Aleksandr Ablitsyn (group KMBO-01-22) — Third Degree Diploma, bronze medal, and a valuable gift

The second day featured the team tournament, consisting of five blitz rounds. In each, teams had 20 minutes to solve five problems. The RTU MIREA team led almost throughout the competition, earning the highest score in four out of five rounds.

As a result, they secured a well-deserved first place in the team event. All team members were awarded First Degree Diplomas, gold medals, and valuable gifts. Apart from the individual event winners listed above, the team also included Aleksandr Pogosov (group INBO-20-23).

We congratulate our students and their mentors — Senior Lecturer Sergei Kharlamov and Associate Professor Natalia Beletskaya of the Higher Mathematics Department, Institute of Artificial Intelligence — on their outstanding victory!
