RTU MIREA Vice-Rectors Participate in First Russia–DPRK University Rectors’ Forum

The first forum of university rectors from Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea took place at Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok, bringing together more than 70 leaders from major universities in both countries.

The North Korean delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Education Lee Chak Shin. From the Russian side, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Olga Viktorovna Petrova addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

RTU MIREA was represented by First Vice-Rector Nikolai Ivanovich Prokopov and Vice-Rector Grigory Valeryevich Petushkov.

The forum’s program included:

  • A meeting between the two education ministries, where participants discussed cooperation in detail, including updates to the regulatory framework.
  • A plenary session focused on key issues in international education and academic mobility.
  • Panel sessions where participants explored formats for technological partnership, identified priority areas for collaboration in basic research, and discussed joint training of engineers and IT specialists.
  • The signing of approximately ten student exchange agreements between Russian and North Korean universities.

In his remarks at the plenary session, Grigory Petushkov highlighted the importance of developing cooperation between the youth of both countries, noting that such initiatives help strengthen friendly, neighborly and partnership relations.

Nikolai Prokopov moderated the panel session “Training of IT Specialists as a Factor of Economic Modernization.”

RTU MIREA looks forward to continuing productive scientific cooperation with universities in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
