From August 21 to 31, Moscow became a global center of military music and culture. The country’s main square was the stage for the 17th International Military Music Festival Spasskaya Tower, which proved to be a major success. The scale of the event was impressive: it brought together about 1,500 musicians from ten countries, with some 6,000 spectators filling the stands each day. This year’s program carried special significance: it marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and honored the defenders of the nation. Both Russian and international ensembles dedicated their performances to the memory of heroes past and present.
The success of an event of this scale depends on the dedication of its volunteer team, and we are proud that students from the Department of History and Document Science at the Institute of Management Technologies were part of it. Their sense of responsibility, commitment, and professionalism made an important contribution to ensuring that the festival ran smoothly.
The orchestras performed such famous pieces as Katyusha, The Road to Berlin, and Victory. The audience was especially touched by foreign musicians performing Russian classics: the Police Academy Orchestra from Sharjah (UAE) played Smuglyanka, while soloists from the Presidential Orchestra of Burkina Faso performed The Sacred War. The ten-day celebration culminated with a combined orchestra performance, concluding with the entire audience singing the iconic song Den Pobedy (Victory Day).
For our students, taking part in such a high-profile international event was not only invaluable practical experience but also a chance to connect with living history and cultural exchange — an especially meaningful opportunity for future specialists in document and archive science.
We congratulate our students on the successful completion of their volunteer mission and thank them for representing our university in this international event. All of them received official commendations from the festival organizers.
