On June 4, a delegation from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, led by Ricardo Ignacio Sánchez Mujica, Minister of Popular Power for Higher Education, paid an official visit to RTU MIREA. The delegation also included Daniel David Gasparri Rey, Director General of the Ministry’s Department of Integration and International Relations; David Alejandro Jiménez Paredes, official of the Ministry; Estefanía Valentina Jiménez Cubilian, Director for Bilateral Meetings of the International Relations Department; and Julio César Pacheco, Adviser at the Embassy of Venezuela in Russia.
RTU MIREA was represented by Rector Stanislav Alekseyevich Kudzh, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Grigory Valeryevich Petushkov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Andrei Vsevolodovich Timoshenko, and Deputy First Vice-Rector Irina Solunova.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by Rector Kudzh, who thanked the guests for their interest in the university and their visit. He introduced the university’s education system, highlighted RTU MIREA’s achievements in science and education, and noted the university’s modern facilities.
In response, Minister Sánchez Mujica spoke about Venezuela’s education system, emphasizing its focus on addressing social challenges in science and research. He expressed interest in developing scientific cooperation with RTU MIREA, including joint educational projects, academic exchange programs, and dual-degree initiatives.
The official part of the visit concluded with a tour of RTU MIREA. The Venezuelan delegation viewed a university presentation in the conference hall and visited the Situation Center of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Russian Statistics Agency, as well as the mega-laboratories of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and the Institute of Information Technologies.
This visit marked an important step in strengthening academic ties between Russia and Venezuela. The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for joint initiatives and exchanges of best practices, contributing to the growth of international scientific and educational cooperation.
